The classically designed Trible Library at Christopher Newport University is a significant extension of the existing library, with academic spaces, student services, and an expansive, two-story reading room. The main open space is overlooked by balcony study spaces, and capped with an intricate ceiling inset with laylights at each end.  In the center of the structure and over the center bay of the reading room is the new cupola, which is uplit from the center to give it some monumental presence from the inside and outside. The custom, 3-tiered chandeliers compliment the decorative bowl- and candelabra-style pendants and sconces through the building, while the reading lamps bring the scale down and create that ‘library feel’.
