Adaptive Reuse, Honor Award

Aliki Perroti and Seth Frank Lyceum at Amherst College
Amherst, MA

Nestled between rolling hills, ancient trees, and ivy-clad buildings, the Aliki Perroti & Seth Frank Lyceum is a sustainable, light-filled academic venue that seamlessly integrates a semi-historic home with a sleek glass and stone addition to create a dynamic hub for learning and collaboration. Inspired by the ancient lyceums of Athens, the project centralizes the college’s Center for Humanistic Inquiry (CHI) and adjacent academic departments. The design leverages the adjacencies of offices, classrooms, ground floor event space, and an outdoor terrace all connected by an open commons and abundant “in-between” spaces. Designed to inspire intellectual exchange, its spacious interiors and sweeping views establish a new place for the community to share thoughts, ideas, and work.

View Boston

Boston, MA

A reimagining of the historic “Top of the Hub” aimed to repurpose underutilized and outdated space at the Prudential Tower to create a new type of public experience. View Boston is a point of arrival and point of departure for locals and visitors alike to discover the City of Boston and an iconic landmark from a new perspective.

This three-floor episodic experience is surgically woven through the building, with unique spaces stitched together through an architecturally clear manner that guides visitors intuitively though the space.

Transported into the sky, guests exit the elevators and are greeted by a view of the skyline seen through the iconic “Prudential” sign. Materials and details heighten the experience of the view through luminosity and transparency, creating an emotional connection to the City below and the sky above.
